PATTI SMITH RECOMMENDS SOME MUSIC

Patti Smith was visiting Madrid in the Spring of 2008 to give a recital on the occasion of the ‘Day of the book’. The previous night we sneaked into another restricted access recital that the French Alliance improvised, and after that, into her dressing room. We had already stalked her a few weeks before, when La Casa Encendida opened an exhibition on Rimbaud. We finally had her in front of us, filling with her strength that tiny space, and we wanted her to answer a few questions in her own handwriting. In exchange, we offered her a little box with some treasures tied with a black ribbon. She tied it around her neck and there it remained for at least several days. Far from trying to be her amulet, we wanted her to be our charm indeed.
